This was my first time photographing Jen’s family but they are the type of people you just felt like you’ve known for years – super easy to work with, fun to be around, and how adorable are their kids? After their first choice location was flooded (Palisades Park, the elusive Iowa location that is constantly under water), we pivoted to one of my favorite Iowa City spots which worked perfectly to get several diverse backgrounds within a small area. Plus, thanks to COVID, the location which can be busy during normal times was completely dead (can you say front row parking?). Having an empty location was also helpful because they brought along Scout, their new puppy that they got during quarantine. Less distractions for her gave them tons of time to snuggle and love on their sweet dog (and get really great photos of Scout posing perfectly too), and just in general everyone tends to feel more relaxed without a lot of people nearby!
When it comes to photos, do you prefer an urban or nature setting? Busy or the place to yourself? I have my favorites, but I’d love to know your preferences!
