Shorewood, IL Newborn Photographer | Alex

(featuring the sweetest big brother, a little reschedule magic, and one very snuggly newborn)

One of my absolute favorite things about being a photographer? Getting to watch families grow over the years—and Ashley and Adam are such a perfect example of that. I first met them when I photographed their wedding (yes, we go way back), and since then, I’ve had the honor of capturing both of their boys as newborns. Cue all the full-circle feels.

Most recently, I got to meet baby Alex—who, might I add, was an absolute dream during his session. Calm, snuggly, and already rocking that perfect “I run this household” newborn energy.

Now, full transparency: this session didn’t go exactly as planned (because, real life). We actually split Alex’s session into two parts because his big brother was sick the day we were originally supposed to shoot. And while that might sound a little chaotic, it ended up being such a great decision. We were able to get those early, sleepy newborn photos when Alex was still teeny-tiny, and then come back a couple weeks later to capture some updated moments with his older brother once he was feeling better.

And let me just say—those couple of weeks made such a difference. It’s wild how fast newborns change in just a short time. By the time I came back, Alex had already grown so much, and I’m so glad we got to document both versions of him. (One of the biggest perks of doing a split session—more milestones, more memories.)

Beyond the photos, though, what really made this session special was the connection. Walking into their home again felt like visiting old friends. There’s a level of comfort and trust that builds over time, and I swear it makes the sessions that much more relaxed (especially with little ones involved).

Watching Ashley and Adam step into this next chapter of life with two little ones has been so sweet. And seeing big brother step up to his new role? Heart-melting. I’m already dreaming about the next time I get to capture this beautiful crew.

Thinking about newborn photos? Here’s a little takeaway if you’re planning ahead:

✨ Don’t stress if everything doesn’t go exactly according to plan (because #kids). Flexibility is part of the magic.

✨ Babies change SO fast. The earlier we can photograph them, the better—but there’s also something really sweet about capturing those little changes if we split it up.

✨ Working with a photographer you’ve known for years = comfort, trust, and a whole lot of “don’t worry, I’ve got you.”

Ashley, Adam, thank you (again and again) for letting me be part of your family’s story. Watching your boys grow is such a gift, and I’m so grateful to be the one behind the lens for all these beautiful moments.
